Story Board And Its Important Tips

Its mean sequence of drawing with some directions and dialogues or series of panel on which set of sketches is arranged showing important changes in the scenes and action or can be defined as bringing life to the script. A storyboard illustrates the key scenes like – how setting will look, who will do actions or who will be present.
PART 1 STORY WORK
A)SET TIMELINE: – Make important list about main events of the story and order in which it will appear on screen.
B) HIGH LIGHT KEY SCENES IN THE STORY: Though this viewer can get an idea of how story gets translated to the film like plot twist or any important changes are consider being turning point and should be clearly shown in the storyboard.
C) DECIDE THE DETAILS:-Never add too many details to your storyboard as it may confuse viewer in interpreting your illustrations. It should be easily understood by everyone who views it.
d) DECIDE MINUTELY ABOUT EACH SCENES:-Write down list of scenes and narration of most important element of each one e.g.: if two characters are chatting with each other or whether they will smile or stay angry or fighting etc.
PART 2 DESIGNING YOUR STORY BOARD
A)DETERMINE DESIGNING TEMPLATE: – First of all determine in which medium your template will work e.g. adobe illustrator, Microsoft power point or Amazon storyteller. If you are interested in designing storyboard by hand, then with the help of pencil divide poster board into empty frames of same size.
B) SKETCH YOUR THUMBNAIL:- By rough drawing try to bring scenes to life by adding few essential elements ,erasing or redrawing as and when required
Shots type- close up, over the shoulder shots, tracking shots etc.
Composition-background, lighting and colour palettes
Props, actors and if with special effects
C) ADD ESSENTIAL DETAILS: – Below each cell write down important narration about each scenes and also dialogues which needs to be added.
D) FINALISE YOUR STORYBOARD:-Once you define subject matter and it’s each frame design review your work and make sure your each displays action which you wants to portray. Don’t worry if your drawing doesn’t look realistic, only it should sense it your team members
PART 3 FINE TUNNING
A)THINK WITH DIFFERENT VIEWPOINT: – Instead of drawing as if characters are standing on same horizontal surface, make some standing close to camera and some away from camera in different angle. That will give team member proper understanding to people working in team more clarity about the shots. And it will be give better understanding for transforming storyboard into film and better idea for shooting a film
B) HAVE CUTS TO NEW SHOTS :- Advancing your storyboard doesn’t mean simply switch off to new shots , it should be in proper synchronisation with what characters do and want to do in each cell then shift to another cuts
C)FINALISE STORYBOARD:-When you are working with team, make sure to take inputs from everyone and should be edited and changed if required. Remember to take others ideas too
